California AB 1200 and State Cookware Disclosures
We at East Oak strive to comply with all laws that may be applicable to our products. The states listed below require manufacturers of listed cookware to make certain disclosures about their products if certain specified chemicals are intentionally added to the products’ food contact components and/or handles. East Oak puts consumer safety first, and we take our products’ safety very seriously. The cookware products identified here comply with relevant limits and rules established by the US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”), including the relevant requirements of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations governing the safe use of product parts in direct contact with food.
California Residents: The cookware disclosure requirements of California AB 1200 can be found in the California Health & Safety Code, beginning at Section 109010. As of January 1, 2023, a manufacturer of cookware sold in the state containing one or more intentionally added chemicals from a designated list of chemicals is required to identify those chemicals on its website.
Colorado Residents: The cookware disclosure requirements of Colorado House Bill 22-1345 can be found in the Colorado Revised Statutes, beginning at Section 25-15-601. A manufacturer of cookware sold in the state that contains PFAS chemicals on the handle or food contact surface (like PTFE), must disclose the presence of PFAS on the product label and provide a statement of why it was intentionally added. Nonstick cookware often contains PTFE, to prevent food from sticking to the surface. The FDA regulates the use of PFAS substances in cookware to ensure safety for their intended use.
