Deck Box Care & Maintenance Guide
EAST OAK Deck Box Care & Maintenance Guide
Your EAST OAK Deck Box is designed to be a long-lasting outdoor storage companion. To help you keep it stable, dry, and looking its best, follow these essential maintenance practices:
1. Know Before You Assemble
Why this matters:
The deck box uses tight-locking clips to maintain weather resistance and structural stability. These clips are engineered to stay firmly locked — forcing them apart after assembly can damage the product.
Our advice:
- ✔ Before you build, carefully review the instruction manual or watch the official video tutorial.
- ✔ Follow the steps in sequence to avoid assembly errors that could compromise durability or water resistance.
2. Ensure the Bottom Panel is Installed Securely
Why this matters:
The base supports the entire deck box. If it is installed incorrectly or the clips are not fully engaged, the box can shift, leak, or become unstable over time.
Our advice:
- ✔ Confirm the side marked with the letter “D” faces inward — after correct installation, the “D” should not be visible from outside.
- ✔ When pressing the panel clips into place, use firm pressure at the edges as well as the center, and repeat until you hear a “click” to guarantee a watertight seal.
- ✔ Quick Check: No visible gaps and a hidden “D” means the base is properly locked in.
3. How to Protect Your Deck Box in Harsh Weather
Why this matters:
Severe weather — such as heavy rain, strong winds, or snowstorms — can damage the lid, hinges, or even destabilize the entire deck box if not properly secured. Water intrusion can also damage the contents.
Our advice:
- ✔ Lock the lid: Always use the lock-ready feature whenever harsh weather is expected, especially for 31-gallon and 60-gallon models.
- ✔ Elevate the deck box: Place it on a raised surface or blocks to help prevent water pooling around the base.
- ✔ Add a waterproof cover: In heavy storms or snow, consider placing an extra waterproof tarp or protective cover over the box for extra protection.
- ✔ Move indoors if possible: If a hurricane or blizzard is forecast, relocate the deck box to a shed or garage if space allows.
Quick Checklist:
- ✔ Lid locked
- ✔ Box elevated off wet ground
- ✔ Waterproof tarp added
- ✔ Moved to a safe location if needed
